Rivera, Yankees hold off Bosox in 9th for 2-1 win (AP)

New York Yankees catcher Jose Molina, left, reacts after Boston Red Sox's Julio Lugo struck out swinging to end the game in Major League Baseball action Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Yankee Stadium in New York. The Yankees won 2-1.

Mariano Rivera was on the ropes, and the Boston Red Sox were poised to earn a memorable comeback victory. That's when the New York Yankees closer found his classic form again. Rivera pitched himself in and out of trouble Saturday, escaping a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the ninth inning and preserving a 2-1 victory.

Put Your Stock in God; He's Never in a Recession

Hello people!

I actually forgot today's date earlier today. One day after the fourth of July, and I'm like, "Wait, what's today?" *shakes head* I'm just slow like that, lol.

Anywho, I went out with my parents to Borders books today and got two more books, lol. One of them, I've already read; Macbeth, obviously by Shakespeare. I love it so much that I really wanted to buy it, and my mom offered to get it for me, so I accepted. I also got a philosophy book that was on sale, which is quite an interesting read thus far.

Oh, and we got coffee and let me tell you, it was delicious. I think it was Seattle's Best, which I hear sucks, but if it's in what we got today (which were frozen drinks), it can't be that bad. Our drinks ruled. Um, and this was prolly the best Borders I've ever been to; it was huge and loverly, but not so big that you could get lost in it. And jeezus, there are so many fantastical books out there to read, I feel like there's not enough time for them all.

So, after that, we went to an unknown (crappy) pizza place about half an hour from our house. It sucked. Well, my food sucked. I got a meatball sandwich and it had chunky tomato sauce and onions, which I hate with the white hot instensity of a thousand suns. But my dad said the pizza rocked, so that's good, I guess.

Next, I forced my parents to finally take me to the thrift store, which I've been wanting to do since we got home from Maine. I found three awesome ties, a splendiferous slate-gray suit, and a cute blue, button-down t-shirt. And it cost me a total of $10. WHOOO! BARGAIN SHOPPING=FTW!

If you know me, you know I'm an Atheist, so you may be wondering, "WTF is up with the title?" Well, there's this church about a minute and a half down the road from my house that puts up amusing signs, like...every other months, usually. They put up the new one, "put your stock in God; he's never in a recession." I may be an Atheist, but I can totally appreciate the humor and found this sign quite amusing, lol. So, yeah. X]

I finally made up the wedding invitations for mine and bigfish05's wedding, so here it is!

I convinced both of my parents to start up their own LJ accounts and do what I do; use them as a diary/journal and record the day's events. It totally helps me with writing and other things, and I think it would really help them, so they're both up for it! YAYZ! The only thing is, I can't add them, lol, cuz I post some pretty inappropriate stuff here and I don't want them reading it. XD

Love y'all - Mira/Doc/Kat *meow*

P.S. Have you done this week's picspam challenge yet? DO IT!

That 9th inning almost killed me, it was so not like Mo. I just hope that he isn't hiding an injury somewhere. Great win, one that they really needed!

Robert
This whole thing started three nights ago.  I rented Gothika on Tuesday and then stayed up till 3 am also watching Fur and Restoration. Then Wedsenday night I watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, True Believe, Good Night and Good Luck, and Less then Zero.  Last night I blew s**** up so I didn't watch any movies.  But I may be renting more tonight.  I'm slowing getting more movies under my belt, but at least I'm watching them.

Oh and I watched Drillbit Taylor today and it had an ad for Iron Man saying COMING SOON TO DVD.

Giving other Robert fans the Heads Up.

Face it, looks influence pick for president

When you cast your ballot for president in November, something as simple as the candidate's face could play a role in your decision.

Sound hard to believe?

A growing body of research supports the notion that a candidate's attempts to establish himself as a powerful leader can be helped or hurt by his facial features. Appearance is not, of course, the sole factor that sways voters, but experts who have studied the link between faces and people's perceptions say we place more emphasis on looks than we think.

Facial structure can play a role in how trustworthy, strong and charismatic we perceive someone to be, said Caroline Keating, a psychology professor at Colgate University who studies facial structure and perceptions of power.

A MAJOR SPEECH IN BERLIN?: Obama Refines Plans for Germany Trip

Barack Obama's planned European tour might make a major whistlestop in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The candidate's schedule isn't set, but a Berlin appearance before the end of July looks likely.
Plans for a visit by Barack Obama, the presumed Democratic candidate for President of the United States, have moved forward -- slowly -- in Berlin, where he may give a speech before the Brandenburg Gate this summer.

Germany's ambassador to Washington, Klaus Scharioth, has reportedly worked for weeks to convince Obama's campaign that the candidate's only large European appearance should take place in Berlin. Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier talked to Obama by phone last April and learned that he might visit Germany. In the meantime, according to SPIEGEL sources, Steinmeier's staff has set plans in motion for an Obama appearance in the capital by the end of July.

Random
I posted this on my lj, but I figured I'd post it in the community, too.

I am so excited about being a volunteer at the Fan Fest. But I keep wondering if we'll get one of those things to wear around a neck with the laminated thing-a-majiggy telling people we are hot $hi+. Do you know what I'm talking about?

Yeah, I'm a dork!

Need Some Help
I'm looking to watch his movie Restoration, but I can't find it anywhere and it's like $40 on ebay! Would anyone be willing to burn me a copy? I don't mind paying a bit, I just don't want to spend 40 bucks if I can avoid it.
